A No Resolution Year

empowerment goal setting self love

Another new year, another fresh start. If you are like me you are thinking where did that last year go?! Seriously. It's the time of year where we are all like man, I've got to get my sh*t together.  I need to make a minimum of 10 resolutions. I need to get in shape, eat better, and the list goes on.  Here's my take on resolutions.  I don't do them.  Yes, you heard me right. Don't get me wrong, I think if that's how you roll and what gives you the kick in the booty you need then absolutely 100% do that.  I can't ride that train.  I used to and felt like by February I was jumping off ship and disappointed in myself over and over again.  This year I decided to try the no resolution thing and instead refocused my thought process.  Everyday is a new day right?  That means that every single day is a new day.  A fresh start.  A new chance to start over.  Why do we as a society choose to let one day of the year define our goals?  I just can't wrap my brain around that.  Set a goal everyday.  Make little changes everyday to get you where you want to go.  If we have set backs, there is always tomorrow to refocus and start again.  No pressure. No deadlines.  No nagging voice in your ear saying you already failed to keep those empty resolution promises.

So how do I stay on track?  I spend time making lists and writing down my goals, dreams and ambitions. I carry them with me everyday.  Wherever I am, there will be a list.  I also tell people.  When you share your plan with those closest to you then you have accountability.  You have people who love you and want you to succeed.  People that will cheer you on and pick you up if you fall short.

Here is a list I found via Pinterest and I absolutely LOVE it.  Find inspiration online or create your own list.  Keep your eyes and heart open to what makes you the happiest. Determine what holds you back and take baby steps to crush those obstacles.

At the end of the day we all have things we want to work on.  We will make steps forward and we will have steps backwards.  That's OKAY!  Try not to be hard on yourself.  Instead, wake up, kick ass and repeat!  It's a positive mind that will inevitably get you where you are going.

Cheers to you and whatever you are striving for this year.  I hope you crush those goals and love yourself along the way.  Life is a great journey an adventure.  Embrace it all.

Love,

Darby
